Ashanti To Foster In The Future?

OK Magazine: Ashanti has revealed that she may follow Brangelina's lead and adopt or foster children in the future. "I'm really interested in family and starting a family way, way, way down the line, but I love kids so much so maybe," she told OK!

"Brad and Angelina are the king and queen of giving back and taking kids in. I definitely applaud and commend them for all that they do."

The singer-actress, who is dating rapper Nelly, felt her heartstrings being pulled after she handed out toys to foster children from the Edwin Gould Services for Children and Families at Planet Hollywood Times Square, in New York.

Ashanti, who took time to chat and joke with the kids, said: "The kids are so innocent, and they deserve so much better. It's really unfortunate to not have a parent - sometimes they lose them to death, or maybe drugs, or maybe something negative.

"I think it's amazing that these parents come along and take these kids in, again because they're the victims, they're the innocent ones. It's important to keep the morale up and to give them a place to live, a healthy environment, and to teach them just to be a person."

Metro: Ashanti played Santa Claus as she gave out Pleo dinosaurs to foster children at Planet Hollywood Times Square, in New York.

Dressed in a white jumper, Miss Sixty jeans and cream boots, the R&B superstar distributed the technologically advanced robot dinosaurs, valued at nearly 350 US dollars and which have been donated by Ugobe, to ten lucky children from the Edwin Gould Services for Children and Families (EGSCF), a New York-based charity which protects and cares for those living in foster care.

"I think it's always wonderful to give back and anything involving the kids is always great," said Ashanti. "It's always good to give back and give toys to the kids, especially those less fortunate than us. It makes me feel good to be able to do that."

And the 28-year-old revealed she loves children, although she isn't thinking of having her own any time soon. I love kids! I love kids, you know. I actually used to work in a day-care centre when I was younger, throughout high school, so I love kids," she added.

As Ashanti handed out the gifts, she chatted to the kids, telling one that when he grows up, he'll have big muscles. She then posed for photographs with them and signed autographs. Check out photos from the event below.
